Overview

Integrating Pivot Interactives with Schoology and a rostering service (ClassLink or Clever) allows teachers to leverage a host of powerful features:

  • Pivot Interactives classes and student accounts are automatically created from the rostering service.

  • Connect those classes to Canvas for automatic grade syncing.

  • Single sign-on for students.

  • Students never need to leave Canvas to complete their work.

Step 1: Create a Pivot Interactives assignment in Schoology

Connecting your Schoology sections to classes imported into Pivot Interactives from a rostering service requires that you connect an assignment. When you connect future assignments, you won't have to re-select which sections/classes to connect.

  1. Click Add Materials.

  2. Click Pivot Interactives.

  3. The first time you do this, you'll be prompted to log into your Pivot Interactives account. Enter your Pivot Interactives account information.

Step 2: Import your classes from the rostering service into Pivot Interactives

If you'd imported your classes prior to now, then you can skip to step 3.

  1. Click Add Pivot Class +

  2. Click Add Class from Rostering Service

  3. Select the classes you wish to import from the rostering service.

  4. Click + Add Classes

Step 3: Connect your Schoology sections to the imported classes

You will be connecting each Schoology section to it's corresponding imported class one at a time.

  1. Click the imported class that corresponds to the first section you're connecting.

  2. Then click Connect Class.

  3. If you previously assigned an activity, then click the assignment name, then Connect Assignment.

  4. Otherwise, click Add Pivot Assignment

  5. Find the activity you wish to assign in your library, then click Assign. If you're assigning out of a different library, click My Libraries and select the library you wish to assign from.

  6. (Optional) If you've not added any activities to your personal library yet, then click Pivot Interactives Library. Use the filters to find an activity. Click Preview to open a new tab and see the activity as a student would. Click Copy & Assign to copy the activity to your library and assign it to your sections.

  7. Make sure you've set the appropriate due dates, then click Assign.

  8. Click the name of the assignment you just created, then click Connect Assignment

Step 4: Connect your remaining Schoology sections to the imported classes

Note: the following instructions are for sections that are linked in Schoology. If your sections are not linked, simply add another assignment from the other Schoology section and follow the instructions again from Step 3 above.

  1. Click the assignment in Schoology that you just created.

  2. The assignment will load in another tab. Close that tab to return to the Schoology tab.

  3. Click the section name under the assignment title, then select the next section you need to connect from the dropdown.

  4. Click the imported class that matches your Schoology section. Then click Connect Class

  5. Repeat for any additional sections.

That's it! Any future Schoology assignments you connect will automatically populate to the other Schoology sections and imported classes. You won't need to duplicate your efforts any further.
