When working on any score-based component, you can add a hint to give students more information in a unique way.

When you click the Add Hint + button, a few new options will appear in your component.
Hint
This is the additional information students will get. Students see this information:
If the Make hint initially hidden? checkbox is unchecked
Always displayed.
If the Make hint initially hidden? checkbox is checked
The student will see this information when they click on the Hint Prompt.
Hint Prompt and "Make hint initially hidden?" Checkbox
You can choose to hide the hint and only display it when a student clicks on the hint. To do this, check the box labeled Make hint initially hidden?. If you want, you can add a Hint Prompt to the hint. The hint will display with this prompt. If you do not give the hint a prompt, it will display as "I need a hint."
How does that look?
Unhidden Hint
An unhidden hint is visible at all times.
They start with "Hint:" in pink text.
The hint text that follows is italicized.
They do not show their prompt - it's only going to display what is typed in the Hint box in the component editor.
Hidden Hint without a Prompt
A hidden hint without a Prompt is visible only when the student clicks on the "I need a hint" text.
All of the hint text is hidden until the student interacts with the prompt.
When the hint is revealed, the text is italicized.
If you do not include a prompt, but select a hidden hint, it will display with the default prompt "I need a hint."
Hidden Hint with a Prompt

Whatever is typed in the Hint Prompt box will display as the interaction point.
