Scores Overview

There are six available columns in the Scores view:

How do I get there?

Click on the activity within a class on your My Classes page to access the Scores page for that specific activity and class.

Student

This is a list of all of the students who have access to the activity. If an assignment was assigned to individuals or groups, only the students who have received the assignment will be displayed.

  • Sort students alphabetically by last name using the up (A-Z) and down (Z-A) arrows.

Last Changed By

This dot provides a visual indicator of the last person to interact with an activity. There are three colored dots that can appear here:

Dot Color

What does it mean?

How does this happen?

Teal Dot

The instructor was the last person to edit the activity.

Grading a question, leaving comments, changing the submission status.

Yellow Dot

The student was the last person to edit the activity.

Answers (or attempting) a question, submitting an autograded question, submitting the activity

Black Dot

This activity has not been edited by the student or the instructor.

The activity will stay this way until the student attempts the assignment OR the instructor attempts to grade the assignment.

Instructor Updates

This provides a new visual indication of the work completed by the instructor.

The Ring

What does it mean?

This means the activity has been assigned by the instructor. All activities start here.

This means you have begun grading this assignment.

This means you have requested revisions, but you're waiting for the student to complete the revisions.

You're finished grading! You have marked this as a final grade.

If you have an LMS integration, your grade will be sent to your LMS when it reaches this state.

You may see this on older assignments. Unknown is the state given when data does not exist for the action.

This is a rare status - you'll likely never see it.

Also - you may notice that some of these statuses have a date and time. This is a record of the last change to this status.

In this example, the Final Grade was completed at 02:43 PM on 07/26/2022.

Student Updates

This provides a new visual indication of the work completed by the student.

The Ring

What does it mean?

This means the student has not begun working on the activity.

This means the student is actively working on the activity. The date you see is last time the student worked on the activity.

This means the instructor requested revisions from the student. When the student begins working, it will go back to In Progress.

This means the student's work was auto-submitted on the due date.

This means the student's activity is finalized.

If you have an LMS integration, your grade will be sent to your LMS when it reaches this state.

Score

This is still the points earned vs. points available on an activity. Autograded points are calculated automatically; instructor graded points are added by entering the Grade by Student view or Grade by Question.

Actions

You now have a series of actions that you can do to an activity. (Bulk actions coming soon.)

  • To grade an individual student, click the Grade button.

  • To submit the activity for the student, click Submit Activity. This will close the activity for a particular student.

  • To enter a final grade (and send the grade to your LMS), click Mark As Final Grade.

  • If you have requested revisions and you want to retract this action, click Unrequest Revisions to return the activity to the submitted status.
