Using the Iris™ Light and Color Measuring Tools

The Iris™ Light and Color Measuring Tools allows you to measure quantities such as transmittance of light and temperature directly from a video. For videos with Iris™ enabled:

  1. Click the tools icon in the top-right corner of the video.

  2. Click the Iris™ icon.

  3. Click and drag the Iris™ to select an area to measure.

  4. When measuring transmittance, the measurement is shown in the box labeled Transmittance.

Different color LED's have been placed behind a sample of distilled water. The transmittance through the water of each light can be measured using the Iris™ Transmittance Tool.

  5. When measuring temperature, the measurement is shown in the box labeled Temperature.

A bunsen burner was used to heat an aluminum rod. The Iris™ Temperature Tool can be used to measure the temperature at different points along the rod as it's being heated up.
