Overview

Pivot Interactives allows for flexible grading and feedback with your students.

Assignment Status

Each activity assigned to students will have one of the following assignment statuses. These statuses can be seen on the Scores page of an assignment.

  • Not started - The student hasn't yet opened and begun work on the assignment.

  • In Progress - The student has started working but hasn't yet submitted their work for grading.

  • Submitted - The student has submitted their work for grading.

  • Graded - The student's assignment has been graded.

After the student has submitted their work, you have several options for the Status of that work:

  • Submitted - the student has submitted their work for grading. They are unable to make any changes to their work.

  • Request Revision - the student will see any comments and scores you've entered, and they will be able to modify their work. The assignment will stay in this status until they Submit or until you manually take it out of Request Revision.

  • Graded - You have graded the assignment and are communicating to the student that grading is complete. They are unable to make any changes to their work.

To change a student's assignment status:

  1. Click My Classes.

  2. Click the assignment name.

  3. Click the three dots opposite the student's name under the Actions column.

The options that appear will depend on the student's current assignment status.

You can also use the Bulk Actions option to change the assignment status for multiple students. Simply check the boxes next to the students who's status you wish to change. Select the bulk action, then click Apply.

Grading and Feedback.

Assignment status can be changed either when grading by student or when grading by question.

Note: when grading by question and changing the assignment status, that status applies to the entire assignment. There is no way to change the grading status of an individual question.

When grading by either one of these methods, you'll have the following options.

  1. Pending Grade - sets the Status of the assignment to Submitted. The student will be able to see their work and your comments but cannot make any changes.

  2. Final Grade - sets the Status of the assignment to Graded. The student will be able to see their work and your comments but cannot make any changes. If you've integrated Pivot Interactives with an LMS such as Canvas or Blackboard, this will also initiate the sending of scores to that platform.

  3. Request Revision - sets the Status of the assignment to Request Revision. The student will be able to see their work and your comments and can make changes to their work.
