Overview

You can search for Pivot Interactives activities using our category filters or by using a text search. You can also preview activities to see them as a student would as well as add a copy of an activity to your library.

Category Filters

You can search for activities using a variety of category filters.

  • Subject - Broad subject area such as Earth Science, Physics, or Chemistry.

  • Topic - Topics within a subject area like Kinematics or Electrochemistry.

  • Grading - A percentage of how much of the activity is automatically graded vs. manually graded by the instructor.

  • Standards - Filter by Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and Next Generation Science Standards.

  • Difficulty - Filter by grade level or level of scaffolding

  • Instruction Cycle - Filter by location in the instructional cycle.

To search for activities in the Pivot Interactives Library:

  1. Click Activities at the top of the page.

  2. Use the dropdown menus to select the filters you want to apply.

  3. Results show below the dropdown menus.

Here's another example: searching for activities that address a Next Generation Science Standard. IN this case, we're looking for activities for NGSS HS-PS-1-2. As you work your way down the filter tree, click the text to see the sub-category, and check the box to show all activities in that category and sub-category:

To remove a filter, click the X next to the filter name below the dropdown menus.

When selecting multiple filters, please consider the following:

  • When multiple filters within the same dropdown menu are selected, activities that match one or more of those filters are shown. For example, if Physics and Chemistry are selected from Subject, all the activities that fit physics, chemistry, or both will be displayed.

  • When multiple filters within different dropdown menus are selected, only activities that match all of the selected filters are shown. For example, if Physics is selected from Subject, Kinematics from Topic, and High School from Difficulty, then only activities that are labeled as Physics, Kinematics, AND High School will be displayed.

Text Search

To search by text, click the magnifying glass icon, then type your text into the popup search bar. Activities that have your text in the title, description, or activity tags will be displayed below.

Previewing/Adding an activity to your library

Previewing an activity allows you to see an activity as a student would see it. The only difference is that students will NOT see the Show Notes & Answers option. Please note that work done while in preview mode is not saved.

When you find an activity that you'd like to preview, click Preview or click the thumbnail image.

When you find an activity that you'd like to use or modify:

  1. Click Copy to Library.

  2. Select the library you'd like the activity to be placed in from the dropdown menu and then click Copy Activity.

Once the activity is in your library, you can edit it or assign it to your students.
